Project Description
In 2012, Give Me Water Lord (GMWL) completed the Ruth’s Well project in Kasarani, delivering clean, safe, and reliable water to the local community. Drilled to reach a sustainable water source, the well was designed for long-term durability, ensuring that families would have access to fresh water for years to come.
Before Ruth’s Well, residents often spent hours each day traveling to distant water sources, facing unsafe conditions and waterborne illnesses. With the well now in place, families can access water nearby, improving health, hygiene, and daily life. Children have more time for school and play, and households can engage in productive activities instead of spending time collecting water.
This project also fostered community participation: locals assisted in building the well house, collecting materials, and maintaining the well, instilling a sense of ownership and pride. Ruth’s Well has become a vital resource, strengthening the community’s resilience, health, and well-being.
Impact Highlights:
-
Provided clean water to over 600 households
-
Reduced cases of waterborne diseases in the area
-
Freed up several hours per day for education and work
-
Empowered locals through active participation and maintenance
Ruth’s Well remains a symbol of hope, demonstrating how sustainable water projects can transform communities, improve lives, and inspire further development initiatives.
